Skye Callow is an artist based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is an image maker. Skye makes work because she is suspicious of photography, particularly in relation to the aestheticization of landscape and how image-making and consumption shapes our personal connections to place. Skye contends with this curiosity through the disruption, deconstruction, transformation, and translation of images through processes such as image transfer, assemblage, and fragmentation. She considers images as objects, recordings, constructions, echoes, hallucinations, ghosts — among other things.
Skye is currently an MFA candidate at the University of Manitoba’s School of Art. She is originally from Sandy Hook, Manitoba, along the shores of Lake Winnipeg. Skye is the Distribution and Collections Coordinator at the Winnipeg Film Group and a member of the Open City Cinema Collective (The Winnipeg Underground Film Festival).
